Amethyst: This is a variety of Amethyst which has been deposited in seams in the host rock, generally of volcanic origin. Most of this material comes from Brazil and Uruguay. This volcanic zone straddles the two nations and is home to many spectacular varieties of Agate as well as some of the most outstanding Amethyst specimen material in the world. This stone was cut cross ways from the seam to illustrate the wonderful crystal formations. Most of this type of Amethyst is cut in this manner. This is one of our purchases from our latest buying trip to our supplier in Oregon who supplies museums as well as critical collectors. We are proud to bring this magnificent specimen to you as a collectible work of art.
