Amethyst: The Amethyst found in the Brazil/Uruguay region is some of the most beautiful in the world. Here is a crystal specimen in which Quartz crystals morph into Amethyst around the center. It is a real treat for the eyes as they follow the undulation of these Quartz crystals as they move inward and become tinged with other minerals to create Amethyst tips. This entire crystal area is bordered with white, tan and blue bands of Fortification Agate which separate it from the outer greyish Agate rind. It is difficult to find Agate/Amethyst geodes cut to display this delightful array of color and mineral formations. Let’s not overlook the Calcite crystals embedded with the Amethyst.
