Linda K. Gillis was born in Los Angeles, CA and grew up in Florida. She started painting early—in middle school Linda was already taking lessons from professional studio artists. In high school, she began taking classes at Ringling College of Art and Design (Sarasota, Fl). She has a Bachelor Fine Art, from the University of Florida and a Masters in Communication, from Mercer University in Georgia. Linda K. Gillis now lives in New Mexico.
Throughout my life I've painted and sold many subjects. But since moving to Albuquerque's West Mesa 3 years ago, I now create abstract expressionist landscapes. My approach is based on both my formal art training as well as my career as an award-winning Graphic Designer. I am fascinated with the infinite range of colors and shapes that occur in the evening and early morning hours. My palette and style naturally reflects the colors and the many "moods" of the Mesa.
I paint with acrylic and "mark making" tools: commercial, hand-made, and found. My goal is to include and integrate the many "moments" of the southwest landscape.
